Pia Törnell works as a product designer and as a ceramicist. Her work ranges from practical and functional, in industrial produced utilitarian products, to freer unique forms, which get closer to a pure artistic expression. Pia's form language is consequent and clear. In a visual search she explores solutions and expressions which are at once new and self-evident.

Through the years her design work has taken shape in the products of Rörstrand, Arabia, Hackman, Skrufs Glassworks and Design House Stockholm. The Architecture Museum and Teaching University, and Hässelby Gårds Subway Station, all in Stockholm, have public art commissions produced in her name. She has also participated in many exhibitions with her unique ceramic objects both in Sweden and Europe, and further afield in Japan and North America.
